CPA Mutuku Anastacia Ngina

POSITION – AWAK Board Member

I am a dedicated and visionary finance professional with a solid foundation in financial management and a passion for elevating the role of women in the accounting profession. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from KCA University and am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) finalist, having completed the CPA program in 2008. With over 15 years of progressive experience across the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the public service, I offer a well-rounded perspective on financial leadership, compliance, and governance.

My professional journey began in the private sector, where I served in the Finance and Accounts Department. In this role, I provided oversight of critical financial operations including budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, and statutory compliance. I played a key role in streamlining accounting systems and ensuring timely financial reporting. This experience sharpened my analytical skills and fostered a strong foundation in operational efficiency, transparency, and fiscal discipline.

I later transitioned into the NGO sector, where I worked as a Finance Officer managing donor-funded projects. This role expanded my expertise in international financial reporting standards and compliance with donor guidelines. I oversaw the financial management of multi-donor budgets, ensured timely and accurate financial reporting, and facilitated both internal and external audits. Through this, I gained invaluable insights into the importance of accountability and stakeholder trust in project execution and sustainability.

Currently, I serve as a Finance Officer at the Machakos County Government. In this capacity, I support public financial management functions, including budgeting, expenditure control, and revenue tracking. I contribute to the formulation and implementation of departmental financial policies aimed at enhancing service delivery and resource efficiency. This role has deepened my appreciation for public sector accountability and the prudent management of public resources in achieving development outcomes.

Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to ethical leadership, professional excellence, and continuous development. I have mentored junior finance professionals, advocated for capacity building, and actively supported initiatives that promote transparency and good governance. I strongly believe in shaping resilient institutions and inclusive economic systems.

In summary, I offer:

Over 15 years of practical experience in finance and accounting across the public, private, and NGO sectors

Proven leadership in financial planning, reporting, compliance, and internal controls

A strong ethical foundation and consistent track record of integrity and accountability

Passion for mentorship, women’s empowerment, and professional development

A collaborative, visionary approach to leadership and governance
